Physical therapy rehabilitation

By definition, physical therapy is a unique science and art that utilizes a wide variety of procedures to restore function to the body, reduce pain and help prevent future injury. When daily life is altered due to an injury, accident, chronic medical condition or re-injury, we realize we are responsible for helping to put our patients' lives back on course and help each individual get back to life.Physical therapy utilizes a variety of evidence-based treatments, physical exercises and hands-on modalities to begin the rehabilitation process at the onset of injury or pain.

Lymphedema is the accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling in the body's tissues, most often found in the arms or legs, but that can also affect the face, neck, trunk, genitalia and abdomen. There is no cure for lymphedema, but early intervention and management techniques enable most patients to lead normal lives. Burke’s certified lymphatic therapists implement the Complete Decongestive Therapy approach (CDT) with their lymphedema patients. Treatment may include manual lymphatic drainage, multilayer compression bandaging, exercises, compression garment measuring and fitting and extensive patient education
