Your favorite foods can delight your taste buds. But if you eat too fast or consume too much of these foods, you may experience occasional acidity.

Mostly all peoples suffer from acidity at some point. Missing meals, not eating at time, working long hours, or an unhealthy diet all create stresses on our health and lead to acidity.

Here are some home remedies to cure acidity:

1. Basil Leaves: 

There are so many health benefits of basil leaves. Basil’s leaves soothing and carminative properties will provide you the immediate relief from acidity. Eat a few leaves of basil or boil 3-4 basil leaves in a cup of water at the first sign of gas, and let it simmer for a couple of minutes. Sip on it frequently. This is the best home remedies for gas or acidity. 

2. Watermelon juice: 

It is great to counter acidity. You can take a glass of watermelon juice with breakfast. Watermelon are high on anti-oxidants and fibre, and help avoid acid reflux and other stomach ailments by maintaining the mucous membrane. The cooling properties and high water content in these fruits help hydrate the body and reduce pH levels.

3.  Lemon water: 

The lemon water  neutralizes stomach acid and improves digestion. Take one tablespoon of lemon juice and mix it in hot water and drink it before eating.

Lemon water is also a good source of vitamin C. However, excess lemon water can wear down tooth enamel and cause increased urination. To protect your teeth, rinse your mouth with water after drinking lemon water.

4. Bananas: 

Bananas are extremely beneficial for gut and stomach health because of their high fiber content which enhances the digestion process. They have a very high amount of potassium and increase the mucus production in the stomach which prevents the excess acid formation and also fights the harmful effects of excessive acid production.  A ripe banana is natural cure for extreme acid bouts.

5. Fennel: 

It is made by boiling gorgeously green seeds of fennel, locally called saunf, in a cup of water for 3-5 minutes. It helps instantly in relieving bloating, heartburn, gas, colic in infants and loss of appetite. In addition, it also exhibits antibacterial properties and can relieve bowel irregularities.

6. Coconut water: 

Coconut water is known to soothe the system if you suffer from acidity. Take minimum 2 glass of it. Unsweetened coconut water can be another great option for people with acid reflux. This beverage is a good source of helpful electrolytes such as potassium. These electrolytes promote pH balance in the body, which is crucial for controlling acid reflux.

7. Take Buttermilk: 

if you notice symptoms of acidity arising after a spicy meal, drink a glass of buttermilk. In buttermilk lactic acid presents that manages acidity in the stomach. So, the next time you get acidity after eating a heavy or spicy meal, skip the antacid and drink a glass of chaas instead. Buttermilk contains lactic acid that normalizes acidity in the stomach. Sprinkle a dash of black pepper or 1 teaspoon of ground coriander leaves for best results

8. Avoid Raw Onion:  

Raw onion increased the risk of heartburn and acid reflux and belching compared with an identical meal that didn't contain onion. Onions, especially raw onions, may cause acid reflux and heartburn symptoms by relaxing the lower esophageal sphincter. In addition, onions are high in fermentable fiber, which may promote acid reflux symptoms.

9. Water: 

Drink a glass of lukewarm water after every meal. Water helps to neutralize the acid and throw out the excess digestive juices present in the stomach. 10. Cumin Seeds: 

Cumin seeds work as a great acid neutralizer, aid digestion. Roast some cumin and crush them, take a glass of water and put that crushed power of cumin or take one teaspoon of cumin seeds in a cup of boiled water and drink it after every meal.

13. Asafetida (Hing): 

Hing is one of those ingredients which are used to treat acidity and indigestion. One of the best ways to use hing to prevent acidity and indigestion is to make it an integral part of your cooking.

Mix a pinch of hing with dried ginger powder and black salt.

Take it with a glass of water after meals to ease flatulence and indigestion.
